Christian Birders Wanted

"Yelling" Cackling Goose seen at Maffitt reservoirFirstly, a little about us… We are a new earth-believing (6 day creation), Christian family. This blog is mine alone, for the most part, but I share within it the birding journey we are on together. We are fairly new to the world of birding, having begun in the spring of 2011. We are learning almost daily something new about these awesome creatures.

If you are a Christian and enjoy birds and birding let me know.  I think it would be wonderful to share in the amazement of God’s creation with others.
At this point in our lives, our birding remains within the state, but I would enjoy sharing with other Christian birders the thrill of a new lifer or the interesting happenings of old feathered friends.
Maybe if any like pen and paper writing, we can start a round Robin.  If you live somewhere around or visit the Des Moines area, we can meet up for birding. But remember, we’re amateurs.  We do not live in DM, but travel that way a few times a month for various reasons.  There are several good spots for birding: Saylorville Lake, Jester Park, Maffitt Reservoir, Brown’s Woods, and Voas.
The reason for this blog is to find others of the Christian faith with an interest in the birds. I am not interested in social networking outside of that, so I will not necessarily pursue “likes”, “follows” or comments.
You may wonder about our denomination, how I came to the Lord and any other number of things.  I have thought about whether or not write this.   But I think it best to leave that off of here and focus on God’s beautiful birds.  It doesn’t really matter what denominational hat we wear, or Bible version we read.  I love the Lord and seek to be a good steward of this earth He gave us.
God bless you and happy birding!
