I am so sorry for being late with this. I schedule them ahead to come early in the morning and I did not realize I missed today.
1 Corinthians 4:
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

Notice anything different about this bird?
More white splotches on the wings?
Yes… And an eyebrow. I was wondering if you could tell this was not a Cooper’s hawk. I actually thought it was until I got the photos on the computer. It’s a Sharp-shinned. A new yard bird for us.
Oh, the eyebrow is not a marking of a full adult. They are found on the younger ones. This is older than a year, though, otherwise, it would be more brown.
Ah, cool. Did you see the feet? In the photos, to me that is the biggest difference–the thinner leg without “pants.”
LOLOL I have heard their legs called “thin and ugly”, but never that. Actually, that’s why we didn’t even think Sharp-shinned, we never got to see the tail and legs because of its position on the tree. LBE didn’t get any pictures when it took off.
The orange eye is quite impressive!
Thank you. My 11-year old took this one. He plays with the manual settings much more than I, so though he takes fewer pictures, he gets better ones.
Well, I knew it was a hawk!….Diane
I enjoy new visitors to our yard, but I am glad this and the Cooper’s are not coming around too often. They really make the birds nervous.
Interesting discussion.
