And all his/her friends. We had a brief encounter last week, when a little one saw one at the feeders. I questioned him, not being sure if he really saw a Harris’s sparrow. Do I put it on the year list?? As we were leaving that day, I heard the unmistakeable song of a Harris’s. That was all the proof I needed. I never did see the little dear as we were gone much of the day. So here is an older picture until they come back again to rest and fatten up for the long journey to their up-near-the-tundra home.
Matthew 6:
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

thank you for opening up your comments again.. this is a very cute little sparrow, I love his mottled head and streaky chest.
Thank you for coming by. These are among my favorite birds as they have such a curious personality. For being just migrants here, we can see them several months out of the year.
Cute!
No
I thought I had blogged about it here, but I did not find a post. This was before we had bird tape up and a first-winter Harris’s hit the window. I brought it in to recover. The morning was cold, cold. The bird survived and I let it back outside after a bit of a scare indoors. It escaped the box. I had to do some fast moving because of the dog.
Bonkers in a Box
Yikes.
What a cute little guy or gal. Hope you are blessed with a return visit.
Thanks for the post and scripture.
I think we have different sparrows but I can’t get up close enough to get pics..maybe in the summer..but this one looks different….Diane
Don’t believe I’ve seen one of those. Neat looking little bird. Thanks for sharing and the thoughts.
Thank you for visiting. This sparrow has a pretty narrow range, but they have been sneaking outside of it and ebird shows a handful of sightings in Florida.
