If one belongs to Christ, how can they laugh at the world's humor?
What is it in the picture..that they are ‘eating’??? Diane
They are eating from an Owl seed cylinder bought from Wild birds Unlimited. It’s made of sunflower seeds, pecans, and the face is made from dried fruit and an almond bill. Every species of bird we have this winter has enjoyed it. They would go through one in about two weeks, so we bought the massive 1 3/4 pound seed and nut cylinders and those are eaten down in about three weeks.
That’s the place I got my feeders from…Is it hung from a branch? Diane
The cylinder sits on a holder that can hang from a branch. The big one I bought has a hole in the center to use the same holder, but it also comes with a mesh bag. You just need to figure how to attach it to a thick enough branch. Twist ties are ok, but we’ve learned they do not work well in a strong wind. Are you sheltered?
We’re not too bad…We’re lower than some of the other homes around and there are some evergreens, trees and bushes (without leaves) but the birds scoot in there to take their seeds etc. There are some branches on one big tree that I could probably hang it…Diane
This picture is not very good, but I was taken with the White-breasted Nuthatch’s tail design as it flared. This was taken on a windy day. Today is another blustery day with the temp at -1F. I am not going to look at the windchill. The birds are out, but they are having a hard time flying about.
I tried making this thing I saw on Pinterest. It was a feeder made from a toilet paper roll. You roll it in peanut butter, then roll in bird seed. My peanut butter would not stick to the roll! I ended up with goop all over my hands and the stuff falling off!
Maybe I shouldn’t have used chunky. This looks more sturdy.
I think I saw something like that. I wouldn’t bother- too messy. One of the children tried getting PB on a pine cone and even that didn’t work well.
Too cute. I wonder how they hold on like that. Thanks for the post and the scripture.
